The city of Kolkata needs a rapid
urban transportation system of large magnitude. As one of the pivotal metro cities in India, the scenario of
transportation certainly needs to go up. Recently, the city has faced a variety
of transportation related issues. A variety of buses, taxi and even auto
strikes have hampered the flow of regular life. The chief minister of West
Bengal has taken a number of steps to improve the scenario of business in the
state. The state certainly needs new investments and a business summit was
arranged in the country of Singapore.
In the business summit which was organized in the country of Singapore, industrial leaders from different parts of the world had joined in. Ghanshyam Sarda is one of the high profile business leaders from the city of Kolkata and has made a number of investments over the years. Considered as a baron in the jute sector, Mr. Sarda owns a number of mills across the country. He is also a recognized name in the chemicals and educational business sector. The monorail project will involve a large firm like Scomi Engineering which has already made a considerable impact in the sector.
Scomi Engineering is an internationally recognized monorail project designer and engineering firm from Malaysia. It has already completed successful monorail projects in some of the most important cities like Mumbai, Sao Paolo and Kualalampur.
The members of the Ghanshyam Sarda Kolkata group participated in the summit and expressed their interest to work as an associate partner for the project. The total estimated investment for the project stands at 2,500 crores and the objective is to enhance the industrial ambiance in the state. A variety of new job opportunities for the youth will also be created with such a project in the pipeline.
