The city of Kolkata is all set for a cleaning makeover. With the Clean City Dream City campaign on full swing, the city is all ready for a clean-up. With this project in full swing, the entire image of the city is set to undergo a major change.
With the initiative of the Lions Club International, one of the leading organizations from the city which participates in cultural events, the project has already involved a considerable number of members. With a participation of 60 clubs from different parts of the city, currently the membership status for the project stands at a very large number.
Ghanshyam Sarda is one of the key industrial entities from the city of Kolkata. Over the years, he has invested in a multiple number of projects. The diverse investment portfolio of the group varies from jute, chemicals, education and information technology. As one of the most responsible citizens from the city of Kolkata, Mr. Sarda supports the event on a comprehensive basis.
Within a span of one year, a certain change needs to arrive in the city. As per the Clean City Dream City project which has been taken up, the various members are very serious about the future plan involved with it. In the city of Kolkata itself, more than 5,732 tonnes of daily waste are produced at a regular basis. This particular waste needs to be dumped somewhere in order to keep the city free from pollution.
As per the current status of the project, the various clubs wants to start off with a very small step. Each of the wards needs to be taken into consideration by setting up a variety of trash bins. An awareness campaign at various wards of the city has been planned too.
As per a recent study which has been conducted by the South East Asian Forum For Environment, among the total amount of waste which is generated only 700 tonnes is recycled. The rest of the garbage is dumped at Dhapa.
The various members from the Ghanshyam Sarda Kolkata group are quite keen about the project and want to take it a long way.
