A
clean city drive campaign has been organized in the city of Kolkata
which aims to curb environmental pollution. With the initiative of the Lions
Club International Clean City Dream City
Campaign, it is gearing up for a mega cleaning spree. The entire image of the
city is all set to change with this campaign in place. Over the years, the city
has faced a number of pollution related problems. With a collection of 60 clubs and 2,500
members from the city, the project has already taken good shape. As per the members who are participating in
the campaign, it is possible to bring change to the city within a span of one
year.
Ghanshyam
Sarda is one of the top class and most influential business leaders
from the city of Kolkata. He always likes to be a part of events and extend his
meaningful contribution to society. As one of the luminaries from the city, he
has a great acceptance in the social and cultural circle. This particular event
has been fully supported by him. In the
city of Kolkata itself more than 5.732 tonnes of waste is produced at a regular
basis. This waste needs to be dumped at the earliest in order to keep the city
clean and proper.
The various members from the Ghanshyam
Sarda Kolkata group are quite keen about this campaign and wants it to
be highly successful. The campaign has begun at each ward and gradually
spreading to different parts of the city.
As per a recent study which has
been conducted by the South East Asian
Forum For Environment, among the 5.372 tonnes which is produced, 700
tonnes is recycled. The rest of the waste is disposed off at the Dhapa dumping
ground. Already a digital marketing campaign for the project has been started
at social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.
