The campaign which has been planned in the city revolves around a variety of plan of action.  Various kinds of methods will be put to use to keep the city free from garbage and pollution.  As per the campaign which has been launched recently, the entire image of the state will undergo a transformation with such a project.

Jugalbandi magic of Shiv Hari on Prinsep Ghat

The jugalbandi of two magical musical maestros Shivkumar  Sharma and Hariprasad Chaurasia  was recently held at Prinsep Ghat, Kolkata.  These two living legends from the field of Hindusthani classical music charmed the audience and crafted their melodious tunes. The confluence of the santoor and flute made it a really charming evening.

Events of such large magnitudes are rarely held in the city of Kolkata. Hindusthani classical music has a very refined audience and a crowd of around 2,800 people gathered. The serene ambiance of the Prinsep Ghat just beside the Ganges made the evening all the more splendid. As the jugalbandi started to crowd began to appreciate the intricate brilliance of these two musical wonders. The strum of the santoor and the whistling of the flute just enhanced the elegance of this musical fiesta.

The evening started with the yaman raga accompanied by different tals and beats. The vibrance of the harmony was evident in the  ebb and flow which went from slow to fast. The entire audience was stifled by the magic of the duo who continued to play on and create an indelible impression. A group of three musicians played in full fervor to support the duo. Pandit  Bhavani Shankar, Subhankar Banerjee and Takahiro Arai  played the  pakhwaj, tabla and tanpura respectively.

After the yaman raga, it was the turn of the raga paahari which made the occasion all the more momentous.
