A clean city drive campaign has commenced in the city of Kolkata recently. With the initiative of the Lions Club International Clean City Dream City project, the city is looking forward to a massive garbage clean up. The campaign which has been planned in the city revolves around different plans of actions. A variety of methods will be put in place to keep the city free from garbage and pollution. As per the campaign which has been launched recently, the entire image of the state will undergo a massive transformation.
The Lions Club International has a very strong entity and consists of different clubs from across the city. It is one of the most renowned socially active organizations from the city. The total membership strength of the Lions Club International project has touched the 2,500 mark. In the city of Kolkata itself, a considerable amount of waste is produced. Ghanshyam Sarda, one of the pioneer industrialists from the city supports this campaign quite considerably.
The project will start with small scale initiatives and gradually progress from each ward. Trash bins will be put up at each of the wards where the citizens can throw the waste materials. As one of the pioneer business establishments from the city, the Ghanshyam Sarda Kolkata group always loves to be involved in such events.
The city will certainly breathe a fresh lease of life with such projects in place. As per a recent study which has been conducted by the South East Asian Forum for Environment, among the 5,732 tonnes of waste which is produced more than 700 tonnes is recycled. The remaining waste is put off at the dumping ground in Dhapa.
A very active social media campaign has also been launched as a part of the project. Constant updates on Facebook and Twitter have been provided to make this project a success. Already organizations like Pariwar and FACES have become associated with this project.
