The city of Kolkata certainly
needs a mass urban transit system. Over the years, traffic and pollution
related problems have gripped the city. Several buses and taxi strikes held in
the city have also created a considerable amount of confusion. A monorail project of grand stature is set to
come up in the city and the recent chief minister of West Bengal has taken a
keen initiative in this regard. A grand business summit was also convened in
the country of Singapore where commercial leaders from different parts of the
world participated.

those from Scomi Engineering. An investment plan of 2,500 crores has been drawn
up for the project. The Sarda group will
act as the local partner for the project and provide all the necessary
logistical support. The entire state is looking forward to such a project of
large scale where the youth will come across a variety of job opportunities.
The Rajarhat Newtown area has been selected as the ideal destination for the
monorail project coming up in the state of West Bengal.
